Woodstock Waltzing Matilda Chime

The melodious tones of this lively chime are tuned to the final notes of the famous Australian bush ballad, Waltzing Matilda. In the land down under, laborers who wandered from town to town were called swagmen. Carrying their entire life on their back in a bag called a Matilda, these men scratched out a meager living by doing odd jobs. They made their home wherever they lay their head. And like the American hobo, the swagman was frequently immortalized and romanticized in song. As Australias unofficial national anthem, Waltzing Matilda is beloved for its colorful story, enchanting melody and the irrepressible spirit it embraces. Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda Youll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me - Banjo PatersonOver 30 years ago, Grammy award-winning musician and instrument designer Garry Kvistad created the first Woodstock Chime from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. Fascinated by the Scale of Olympos, a 7th century pentatonic scale that cant be played on a modern piano, Garry cut and tuned the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympos was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of our best selling, musically-tuned windchimes. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Chimes in 1979 and still develop the chimes today. It remains a family-owned business in New Yorks Hudson Valley.
