Atlus' demon-infested RPG series delves into the realm of science fiction in Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey. Players take on the role of an elite soldier who joins an expedition to an ominous and steadily growing black hole over Antarctica. The crew discovers what appears to be a portal to another dimension, and upon entering what is known the Schwarzwelt, they discover a harsh and unforgiving world filled with demons and supernatural forces. Gamers don a highly functional "Demonica" suit that protects them from some of the harmful elements of this strange land, while also allowing them to discover helpful resources and important locations. The Demonica also plays an intricate role in helping players bribe, befriend, slay, and fuse the More than 300 different demons located in the Schwarzwelt. The goals are to clear the demons out of this bizarre landscape, either by destroying them or convincing them to join the party, discover what caused the black hole, and learn Earth's ultimate role in the universe.
